Patient Benefits How the new base will benefit patients Expand Every aspect of the new Airbase & HQ will be designed and built with patient benefits at the core. From a building designed with efficiencies that will facilitate the enhanced critical care we bring to patients, to private spaces for our patients and their families to meet with our Patient Liaison Clinicians, the entire project is about achieving benefits for those we serve. The build will: Create efficiencies that will directly enhance critical care to patients by creating a frictionless 'work flow' in advance of and upon return from a mission. Provide a base for patients and their families to continue their onward journey of care with our patient Liaison Clinicians (PLCs). Support from our PLCs has a direct impact on reducing post-traumatic injury and enhancing welfare, which are of course lifelong benefits to patients. World-class training facilities will be made accessible to support the development and sharing of skills, knowledge and expertise not only among our own crew, but across emergency teams. Operational Benefits How the new base will benefit our operations Expand The new airbase will create efficiencies in our team's work flow, making time-critical efficiency savings from the moment the 'red phone rings', to the point of return when supplies are restocked, the vehicles cleaned, and the crew is debriefed. Every second that is shaved off the time it takes to respond to that alert counts towards bringing advanced care to patients. For our operational teams, every aspect of the work flow will be made more fluent and more resilient, maintaining and enhancing the excellence of the service to Devon's communities. The build will: Support patients during their recovery and rehabilitation Enhance our capabilities through improved infrastructure and work flow relating to equipment & vehicles Facilitate our expertise to support education and prevention initiatives in collaboration with other agencies Provide an autonomous, Devon Air Ambulance-owned airbase, giving us the sovereignty over our premises we need to make a space that's 100% designed for the needs of our crew. Potentially provide accommodation facilities to support crew members who may have to travel to their shift from across county during unsociable hours, moving us towards delivery of a 24-hour service. Provide training facilities to ensure our crew can access the training resources they need, helping them to be up-to-date with the skills required to deliver the service and continually improve the experience for patients. Charity Benefits How the new base will benefit the charity Expand Devon Air Ambulance exists for the people of Devon and is made possible by the people of Devon. As such, the Airbase & HQ will be open to those same communities that support us. Patients and their families, schools, volunteers, our business partners and our fundraisers will be able to visit the airbase for everything from events and talks, to dropping off cash tins, meeting the crew, or just to ask questions. We know that involving the communities we serve more directly in our work means making our charity one that is fit for the future, is more resilient and more flexible in response to change. Some of the benefits the Airbase & HQ will bring to the charity are: A welcoming and open community space for the public to visit A place to host talks, training and fundraising events A facility with features that can bring in more income to the charity and therefore the service A location for schools to and community groups to visit, to learn at and be inspired by An accessible space built for easy access for everyone from parking to participation in events. We are very excited about sharing the features of the new Airbase & HQ and their many benefits as they become available! Keep an eye on our updates page for news as it comes in!
