Volunteers are a valuable part of Devon Air Ambulance. This pledge outlines what you can expect from us, and what we hope for from you.
At Devon Air Ambulance (DAA) we recognise that our volunteers are the heart of our organisation. Your dedication, time and passion are essential to our mission and serving our community. We hope that you enjoy volunteering with us and feel a full part of our team and the charity.
As a volunteer with Devon Air Ambulance, I pledge to:
- Commit to the cause: I will dedicate my time, skills and energy to supporting the vision, mission and values of the charity. I understand that my contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference.
- Volunteer with integrity: I will represent DAA with integrity and pride, ensuring my actions reflect the high standards of the charity in line with DAA’s Values and Behaviours.
- Act with compassion: I will treat fellow volunteers, staff, stakeholders and the community equally, fairly and respectfully.
- Promote a safe & inclusive environment: I will familiarise myself with and follow all DAA’s policies, procedures and guidelines including Health and Safety, Diversity and Equal Opportunities, GDPR and Safeguarding. I will protect, safeguard and promote the welfare of children and adults at risk.
- Maintain confidentiality: I will respect the need for confidentiality whenever there is access to sensitive information or restricted charity information. I will only collect, use or share personal data when instructed and in accordance with DAA’s data protection guidance.
- Value teamwork: I will work together with other staff, fellow volunteers and the wider community, recognising that our combined efforts are essential to the success of our service.
- Be reliable and responsible: I will fulfil my volunteer commitments to the best of my ability, recognising the importance of good time keeping and giving as much notice as possible whenever I cannot attend a scheduled shift.
- Learn & grow: I will complete all mandatory training to volunteer in certain roles. I will be open to developing my skills and knowledge and welcome feedback.
- Communicate openly: I will keep DAA informed of any changes in my contact details, personal circumstances that may impact on my volunteering, or if I wish to no longer volunteer. I will report any concerns or incidents, including those of a safeguarding nature to a member of staff as soon as possible.
- Be an Ambassador for DAA: I will speak positively about the charity and its mission, helping to raise awareness and support within the community. I will endeavour to attend at least one volunteer engagement event each year to stay up to date with charity news and events.
Please note that your ID Badge and branded uniform should only be worn whilst you are engaged in volunteer activities on behalf of Devon Air Ambulance.
