Wills and legacies

Find out more about leaving a legacy

It’s a difficult subject, but thinking about your will can offer peace of mind to your family and friends, and can help them to carry out your wishes. It’s never too late to make a valuable difference to others when you leave a legacy in your will to Devon Air Ambulance.

Leaving a legacy that will make a positive impact on the lives of others is also a fantastic way to celebrate your life and ensure that an essential service is available for generations to come.

  • All gifts and legacies left to registered charities are free from Inheritance and Capital Gains Tax. You can help others by leaving a lasting legacy - and save tax - by leaving us a gift
  • Legacies and donations are essential in maintaining and improving our essential service
  • Legacies are a wonderful opportunity to do something positive in your lifetime to make an invaluable contribution to our work in the future.

We understand that we only receive this special donation because of someone’s loss. That’s why we always endeavour to respond to these sorts of donations, and the families making them, with sensitivity, care and compassion.

If it were not for our founder's own story of personal loss then Devon Air Ambulance wouldn't exist. Read her story here.

We've answered some of your most frequently asked questions about leaving a legacy further down this page.

Donations instead of flowers

Making a charitable donation is becoming an increasingly popular alternative to flowers

Expand

We have found that more mourners are asked to make a donation to the deceased’s favourite charity instead of buying flowers. This is a wonderful way to honour the memory of a love one that makes a huge difference to us at the same time.

How to support Devon Air Ambulance in your Will

Remembering a charity in your will is straightforward.

Expand

We recommend you visit a solicitor to make a Will, or make an amendment to your existing Will. If you simply want to add on a legacy, this could be done by drawing up what is known as a Codicil. This is then simply kept with the original copy of your Will. Your solicitor will request the following information from you:

Name of the Charity: Devon Air Ambulance Trust

Charity's Address: 5 Sandpiper Court, Harrington Lane, Exeter, EX4 8NS

Charity's Registration Number: Registered Charity No: 1077998

Scroll up to read some of the articles that give you further insight into writing your will, and look out for Will's Month in November each year for a chance to support Devon Air Ambulance when you write your will.
