Rotary Club of Exmouth support DAAT through Night of the Proms at Exeter Cathedral

Posted by on January 6th 2014 in Events, Fundraising

The months following Christmas can sometimes be an anticlimax; tearing down the last remainders of tinsel and slowly working your way through a stockpile of chocolate.

Luckily for Devon Air Ambulance Trust, The Rotary Club of Exmouth & District have organised a fabulous event to raise everyone’s spirits.  An uplifting ‘Last Night Of The Rotary Proms’ Concert is planned at Exeter Cathedral – guaranteed to pull us all out of those post-holiday blues.  The event will be held on Saturday 1st March, starting at 7.30pm and will support Devon Air Ambulance Trust along with two other charities.

Mark with Jennie the Helicopter costume

By Mark Hawley, Aircrew/Paramedic

On Sunday 13 October I survived (and finished!) the Great West Run (half marathon) with “Jennie” the helicopter as my running companion in a time of 2 hours 27 minutes and in just over 2 weeks I have managed to raise just over £300!

I have to say due to the extra weight I was carrying, the fact I couldn’t see further than 3 feet in front of me, it was boiling hot inside the costume, and I had less than 3 weeks training in my legs, it was one...

Mia Swim Blog No 2

Posted by on August 14th 2013 in Events, Fundraising

So what’s been happening on the training front since my first blog, you may ask?

Well – quite a lot!

Since my last (and first) entry on the blog here, I got my lovely colleague, Lou, on board with the swim – and it’s great!

Besides the benefit of having someone to share your swimming antics and excitement about the up-coming (and what will essentially, for both of us, be our “maiden”) sea swim with, Lou has brought with her some un-relenting enthusiasm and great knowledge on different swimming techniques for long-distance free-styling.

While we await the arrival of...

Andrea's new adventure

Posted by on July 23rd 2013 in Events

I will blame ≠devonhour for getting me into another adventure… I was merrily taking part in the twitter devonhour where you tweet with local businesses and organisations on a Wedensday night. I saw DAAT mentioned the sea swim and suddenly I find myself signed up, signing my friends up and now writing this blog!

I am a bit of a soft touch when it comes to the Devon Air Ambulance. My darling son was airlifted twice after suffering a skull fracture on Christmas morning 2012. Freddie was only three when he fell from his sisters’ bedroom window down to...

National Air Ambulance Week hailed a great success

Posted by on October 29th 2012 in Events

For the first time this year many of the country’s Air Ambulance charities have joined together, via the Association of Air Ambulances (AAA) to raise awareness and celebrate National Air Ambulance Week (NAAW12).

The AAA is fortunate to have a very high profile patron, Sir David Jason, better known for his character roles as Del Boy in comedy Only Fools and Horses, and Frost.  The Sun and Heart FM have also come on board as media partners this year.

Events across the country vary from ‘Be a Hero for a day’, dress up and dress down days, to fetes. ...
