Heli hike volunteer

We anticipate needing our first volunteers from 6:00am, with the final shifts wrapping up around 8:00pm.  Each shift is expected to last between 4 to 6 hours, depending on your role and location along the route.

Bigbury, South Devon

Route Marshalls – Cheer on walkers, guide them along the route, and ensure everyone stays safe.

Water Station Crew – Keep participants hydrated and motivated at key checkpoints. 

Your role is simple but powerful: cheering on hikers, offering encouragement, sharing a smile, and being part of a supportive team in one of the most beautiful settings on the South West Coast Path.

Volunteering at Heli Hike is flexible, relaxed, and genuinely enjoyable.

• You can choose a half-day or full-day shift
• You’ll be based at a designated post — you can bring a folding chair (no standing all day!)
• You’ll be fed and watered, and
• Expenses are covered in line with our volunteer expenses policy

Some sections of the route will be remote, uneven, and exposed to the elements – while it’s hard to predict British weather, July can bring hot and sunny days, so please keep all of the above in mind when signing up.

A full event briefing will take place prior to the event.
