Our local charity shops are dedicated to supporting our vital life-saving service and we are happy to celebrate the successful relocation of our much-loved Okehampton charity shop, which has moved to a more spacious and prominent location in town.

The new premises, situated just along the road from the previous shop officially opens its doors at 10am on Friday 28 July, marking an exciting milestone for the organisation and the local community.

We had the opportunity to move to a more versatile unit and welcomed the chance to increase our presence in the town in a new space that offers a much greater range of items for sale.

The Okehampton shop is proud to have the unwavering support of many generous donors who continue to donate pre-loved items to support the circular economy, allowing others to reuse their no-longer-needed possessions whilst raising money for our emergency medical service.

To further exemplify our commitment to sustainability and giving pre-loved items a second chance, we also retained some of the shop fittings left by the previous tenant (Ginger Plum).

'The relocation to number 29 Fore Street offers several key benefits,' Brian Harvey, Retail Operations Manager at Devon Air Ambulance, explained.

'We are thrilled to be able to open our new unit in Okehampton. The wider space provides us with ample room for a much larger selection of quality items, ensuring an enhanced shopping experience for our valued customers. Also, the new double-fronted location enables us to be seen clearly by passers-by and to be able to display a great many wonderful, donated items in our windows.

'Most importantly, we hope that an increased number of shoppers will help to raise additional funds, which are essential to keep our crews responding to those critically ill or injured across Devon and beyond.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our generous donors, tireless volunteers, and the local community for their unwavering support, which has made this relocation possible. Together, we are making a significant difference to the lives of those in need of urgent time-critical care.

To celebrate the grand opening of the new premises, the entire community is invited to join the Devon Air Ambulance team for the grand opening on Friday. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet some of the dedicated staff and volunteers who help to make the Okehampton charity shop such a success.

Charlotte Leventis, Head of Communications and Marketing at the charity, said:

Through the dedication of our skilled medical teams and the generous support of the communities we serve, we continue to make a difference to the lives of countless individuals and their families and friends. Our charity shops play a crucial role in raising funds to support our air ambulance operations, and the new relocation in Okehampton represents a significant step forward in expanding our impact on the community.

This new shop opening is the second one to open in just two weeks as Devon Air Ambulance also opened its brand-new Barnstaple super-sized charity shop and Community Hub earlier this month.

If you have summer clothing, accessories or footwear that you no longer need, your local Devon Air Ambulance shop will be very grateful to receive your kind donations.
