The prize is from a series of five visually stunning limited edition prints, drenched in crimson red – The Empresses, released in 2022. Which are signed and numbered.
The prints combine laminated Giclee printing on aluminium composite with screen-printed glitter to give visual richness, texture and sparkle. Each print is 100cm x 100cm.
Each print captures butterflies in moments of dynamic, multidirectional flight – delicate yet commanding. The works are titled after influential female rulers.
Butterflies represent transformation, fragility, beauty and mortality. The vibrant red & black butterfly wing pattern has a hypnotic, almost meditative quality.
