Follow DAA’s very own Paul’s fundraising journey as he undergoes cancer treatment.

Devon Air Ambulance Ecommerce Manager, Paul Hunt, is raising funds for Devon Air Ambulance while undergoing chemotherapy.

Paul is not only a member of our online retail team, he is also a much-loved colleague and a writer of historical fiction! As well as these talents Paul is also fundraising for Devon Air Ambulance and Elf (Exeter Leukemia Fund) while he undergoes chemotherapy.

Paul is writing weekly entries to a blog that shares his progress as he undergoes treatment. With each entry he will sport a new hat! So keep an eye out for updates to chart his progress so far. Visit Paul’s weekly blog or support his appeal.

A hello from Paul…

My aim is to cover the highs, lows and the bits in between, offering insight support and hopefully a few laughs over the remaining 42 weeks of the course of treatment. I was diagnosed many years ago with Chronic Lymphatic Leukaemia which is an incurable blood cancer. However, fortunately it remains a highly treatable one.

The time has come to knock some of the cancer cells back or even – for a while – make them disappear! The course began on March 7th, 2025 and involves two of over one hundred chemotherapy drugs available to cancer patients: one administered intravenously and the other in a tablet.

My aim through the remainder of the chemo journey is to wear a different hat each week to highlight the associated hair loss, and to raise some money for two very dear charities, Devon Air Ambulance Trust, which I have the privilege to work for, and ELF, or Exeter Leukaemia Fund, which does a lot locally for folk who are having to deal with Leukaemia.

Over the coming weeks we will look at potential and actual side effects, continuing to work, support, useful guides and tips, the disease and whatever else should arise… Hopefully it will help me and others to be better informed, encourage fellow patients, and champion two charities that work every day to save lives and make lives better and easier for people.
