The Big Help Out 2024

Last May, an incredible 6 million people joined in with The Big Help Out. It was fantastic that so many people came together to lend a hand in their local communities to experience how rewarding volunteering can be and the power offering your time has to make a difference.

We were very lucky to welcome many of you from our local communities into our shops to experience volunteering at Devon Air Ambulance and were incredibly grateful to you all for joining in and lending a hand.

Volunteers play a vital role in supporting our operations and extending our reach in the community. We have a network of over 650 volunteers, each making an essential contribution to the charity through supporting various areas of the organisation including retail, fundraising and our head office activity.

Did you know that by donating as little as two hours of your time, you will help to fund essential equipment for our Critical Care Crew to use during lifesaving missions (equal to £22), such as a Laryngoscope, a scalpel and metal max pro-shears?

This year, the Big Help Out and Volunteer’s Week have merged and will run from the 3rd - 9th June. We’d like to invite anybody who is thinking about giving volunteering a try, to join us once again at one of three different locations throughout the county where you can come along to find out more and meet the volunteer team.

Choose from one of the following locations where we will be holding our Volunteer Taster Sessions: 

Monday 3rd June – 4pm-5pm

This virtual session is an opportunity for you to find out more about volunteering for Devon Air Ambulance from the comfort of your own home. If you are curious about our charity and how volunteers support our life-saving emergency service, please come along, meet some of the team and our current volunteers. Once you sign up, we will send you a link to join us online. 

Tuesday 4th June – 10-12 noon or 2pm-4pm

Come along to our amazing Devon Air Ambulance hub in Barnstaple to hear more about volunteering and how you can help by giving just a little spare time.

Wednesday 5th June - 12noon -1pm

Join this ‘Virtual’ Taster session from the comfort of your own home. If you are curious about our charity and how volunteers support our life-saving emergency service please come along and meet some of the team and current volunteers. Once you sign up, we will send you a link to join us online.

Thursday 6th June – 10-12 noon or 2pm-4pm

Come along to our Devon Air Ambulance Shop in St Marychurch, in Torbay to find out about the different volunteering roles available and how you can help. Venue: 89-91 Fore St, St Marychurch, Torquay TQ1 4PZ, UK.

Saturday 8th June - 10am-2pm

Morrisons – Supermarket Bucket Collection: Come and join the team as we hold our buckets to help raise vital funds in Plymstock.
