As Black Friday approaches, many online retailers are enthusiastically enticing bargain-hunters to shop flash sales and pre-Christmas clearance deals.

We wanted to remind those of you that might be shopping online for good deals on Friday 27 November 2020 that it is not only Black Friday, it is also Buy Nothing New Day; an opportunity to support hundreds of charities that also have online shopping channels and great products to browse.

In 2017, an organisation called the Reuse Network, which is an ethical charity passionate about reducing waste and landfill, established Buy Nothing New Day to raise awareness and to spread the word that second-hand doesn’t mean second-best.

If you haven’t already, visit our new online shop, which offers a new way to support us and shop for hundreds of pre-loved items not currently accessible in locked-down shops. There are now over 500 items available online including sustainable fashion for men and women, plus recently added categories - Vintage, Books & Christmas.

Free delivery is offered on almost every item, with the only exception being heavier or specialised vintage goods that might need that extra protection to ensure their safe arrival.

Income Generation Director, Caroline Creer says:

Our online shop provides a vital income stream that we are lucky to have available to the charity. Many charities have simply had to close their doors and are losing an incredible amount of income while lockdown continues. To ensure our service remains constant, we need everyone's kind support and I would invite anybody who has not yet visited our online shop to do so. Every single purchase helps to save lives.

The months ahead bring great uncertainty for many charities on which thousands of people depend. We hope that something as simple as online shopping will provide an additional way for you to shop safely from home while supporting your local air ambulance during these difficult times.
