For just one weekend this October the elite Commando training course is open to civilians once more.

The Commando Challenge event, which attracts hundreds of fundraisers keen to take on either the arduous yet fun 5k or 10k muddy obstacle course, raises funds for both Devon Air Ambulance and RMA - The Royal Marines Charity.

This year, award-winning, independent pub company, Punch Taverns, is getting behind the Commando Challenge as the headline sponsor.

Supporting an epic event

In previous years, Punch entered several well-supported teams to tackle the 8 obstacles that form part of the Royal Marines recruits training experience; the very same obstacles that recruits undertake in their journey to receiving the coveted Green Beret. Punch HR Director, Jackie Burn, said:

We are thrilled to be supporting this epic event again this year. Events like the Commando Challenge are vital in raising funds for these two very worthwhile charities.

The vital benevolence RMA -The Royal Marines Charity offers to the whole Royal Marines family, and the assistance provided within the county by the Devon Air Ambulance and its teams, are invaluable.

As a business that thrives on bringing people together, Punch is proud to be able to contribute and help with much-needed support and we look forward to continuing to support the fantastic work they do for many years to come.

1,000 + recruits

The 2019 Commando Challenge weekend is set to welcome over 1,000 intrepid entrants across the start line on the weekend of 12th and 13th October. Recruits can then enjoy the attractions of the Events Village, which once more includes the popular dog show as well as a variety of stalls, vendors and fun family-friendly activities.

We’re very pleased to welcome Punch as this year’s headline sponsors,’ says Caroline Creer, on behalf of the Royal Marines Commando Challenge. ‘Their support makes a real difference to the running of the event, which is a high point on the calendar of both RMA – The Royal Marines Charity, and Devon Air Ambulance.

Funds raised from the weekend make an important contribution towards the work of both RMA - The Royal Marines Charity and Devon Air Ambulance. For those looking to take on the challenge there’s still time to enlist, so sign up as an individual or enlist your team today.
