News Read our blog Volunteers Week 2018 - a thank you to our incredible volunteers The first week of every June is National Volunteers week. Certainly without our incredible volunteers, who collect boxes, support events, help out in our office, support our charity shops, visit schools, deliver talks, and attend cheque presentations - as well as countless other tasks, we would not be able to offer the service that we do. Our volunteers are generous in donating their time and energy for the purpose of supporting patients who require our emergency service. Indeed, many of them have been touched by the service themselves, either as a patient or as a patient's friend or family member. This year our Volunteers manager, Cara Jones, has invited all our volunteers to attend a celebration in their nearest Devon Air Ambulance charity shop for an hour to enjoy cake and tea together. At each shop, long-serving volunteers can expect to receive Long Service Awards as an acknowledgement for their generous contribution to the charity. Cara will be out and about visiting volunteers between Thursday 31st June and Thursday 7th June, armed with plenty of cake for hardworking volunteers - 67 of whom will receive awards for volunteering for 5, 10, 15, 20 and even 25 years - the entire lifespan of the charity! Of our volunteers, Cara says: "We are certain that we speak for everyone in Devon when we offer a huge Thank You to our team of volunteers. They are all fantastic individuals who are generous in time, effort and in spirit and they really do make the charity what it is."
