Devon Air Ambulance (DAA) has been providing urgent medical assistance to people in Devon for nearly 25 years and has saved more than 22,000 lives thanks to the generous donations of the people, businesses and communities of Devon.

The DAA Lottery, which started on the 21st September 2001, was created to provide a regular income to support the service and is a significant contributor to the charity’s fundraising; over the past fourteen years the DAA Lottery has raised more than £12 million.

Sunshine and success for Sea Swim - 2016

On Sunday 5th June 2016 43 swimmers took part in Devon Air Ambulance’s (DAA) annual One Mile Sea Swim. Following a safety briefing from Brendon Prince, Chairman of the Torbay Surf Life Saving Club swimmers set off from Broadsands beach, Paignton, at 2pm.

With calm conditions and a sea temperature of over 13 degrees swimmers were guided on the one mile route to Goodrington by members of the Torbay Surf Life Saving Club, with the fastest swimmer completing the swim in just 27minutes and 15seconds. For all swim times please see bottom of article.

DAA Furniture & Electrical Store First Birthday

Last June Devon Air Ambulance launched a new retail venture, by opening a furniture and electrical store in Exeter.  Twelve months later the store is truly going from strength to strength, with a staff of five.

In order to celebrate the team have been supported by local businesses including Exeter City FC, Bills Restaurant, Furniture Direct and Roly’s Fudge who have each given a gift as a tombola prize.  Everyone buying something at the store over the birthday weekend had the opportunity to pick out a lucky ticket and win themselves a treat

Devon Air Ambulance charity shop to return to Armada  Plymouth

Devon Air Ambulance will be returning to Plymouth in June with a new charity shop at Armada Way.

The new shop will open at 10am on Saturday 18th June and you will find it at 107 Armada Way, Plymouth, PL1 1HH.

Chrissie Peel, Retail Operations Manager of Devon Air Ambulance said “We are very excited about returning to Plymouth.  Our previous shop in Mutley Plain closed some two years ago and we promised our amazing supporters in Plymouth that we would be back, as soon as we found the right premises which fitted our model.  That time is now.”

A motorcycle ride takes a wrong turn, but Devon Air Ambulance are to hand to save a leg.

On 10th October 2014 a motor bike ride with a friend whilst visiting family in Devon turned into an encounter with a lorry that Jamil will never forget.

The Lyn Valley Classic Car Event returns this summer and is set to be the biggest and best yet, and once again will support Devon Air Ambulance. Following the success of last year’s event the organisers have grown the event for this year from a one day car show to be preceded with fantastic live music on the Saturday night.

Greenbow Running Club take on Devonâ??s Coast to Coast in support of Devon Air Ambulance

Exeter’s Greenbow Running Club will take on a Devon Coast to Coast run from Westward Ho! to Dawlish Warren on 25th June 2016 in support of Devon Air Ambulance. The event will see the runners complete a 52 mile route through stunning Devon.

20 runners will take part in a relay, with five set of runners each covering 10.4miles and a minimum of 2 runners running at any time. John Walster and his wife Jackie, from West Alvington near Kingsbridge, were enjoying a weekend away at the Manor House Hotel near Okehampton in May last year, reunited with 23 friends from the amateur dramatic group they had been part of when they lived in East Horsley in Surrey.  The hotel offers sports, activities and crafts for all guests and the Walsters were enjoying a game of tennis doubles with friends Jack Griffith and Jeff Luther when John collapsed.

Derrick Small lives in Chatham in Kent and was enjoying a Christmas break with his wife, Janet, and their son and future daughter-in-law, David and Fran, at Fran’s parent’s Bed & Breakfast in Poundstock, near Bude.

On Christmas morning 2014, Derrick and his son took themselves off for a cycle ride around the North Cornish lanes where they were staying.  “We knew that Fran’s parents were busy getting everything ready for luch so we were really happy to make the most of some quality time out, doing what we both love,” explained Derrick.
