Glamorous frocks and posh dresses in the window of out Topsham vintage charity shop

The festive season is the time of year for many when it’s helpful to get a little creative with your shopping. After all, what do you get that friend who has everything? Where can you find some glad rags that are original, glamorous, affordable and don’t add to the mountain of disposable fashion that we turn over each year? And where can you pick up a trifle dish at the eleventh hour?

Devon Air Ambulance’s Vintage charity shop in Topsham is a good place to start looking – especially if you’re someone who is keen to avoid the heaving high street.

Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is your opportunity to pledge your support to Devon Air Ambulance, by being part of a global day of giving something back.

Giving Tuesday immediately follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday, so after doing some early Christmas shopping or buying yourself something special, you can give something back to your local community. Giving Tuesday is a day all about supporting a special charity and we think we fit the bill.

As an independent charity, we rely wholly on the generosity of people, businesses and the communities of Devon to raise the vital funds needed to keep our helicopters airborne. It...

Our charity shops help save lives

Our charity shops help save lives

Devon Air Ambulance now has 17 charity shops across the county, and each one plays an essential part in saving lives.

We pride ourselves in only selling donated stock in all of our shops, except for a few branded items, namely Christmas Cards, pin badges and reuseable shopping bags.

Raising funds to keep the helicopters flying is of course the shops’ first role but there’s so much more to our shops. It’s essential that we are at the heart of the community that we serve.  Our shops also act as local DAA Lottery agents, as outlets for our fundraising team to drop...

Volunteering boosts Bob's self confidence

After suffering an industrial injury in 1999 that left him with a severe back problem, life for Bob looked pretty bleak.

Bob Wood was living in Manchester at the time and had just completed a five-year apprenticeship as an engineer. But the accident caused tendon, nerve and ligament damage, along with three popped discs in his spine, leaving Bob unable to continue in his job and out of work for eight long years.

In 2002, Bob was registered as disabled and later that year, during a respite break in Devon, Bob decided to relocate.  In 2003 he and his family moved to...

Caroline Ryan has been dropping off donations to Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT)’s Topsham shop since 2009, and little did she know what a difference she would be making by having the occasional clear out.

To date, Caroline’s donated items have raised £890.50 and with the Gift Aid claimed, well over £1000 for the Charity.

Caroline says, “I have a clear out every now and then. I recently had a declutter of the house and was pleased to know that items I no longer had use for could find a good home elsewhere by donating. It also makes it easier to pass...
