Charity shop partners with local businesses

The success of the specialist Furniture & Electrical store opened in Exeter by Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) is attributable in no small part to local businesses who are providing quality stock for onward sale to the general public and helping to spread the word.

Furniture Direct, student accommodation providers Victoria Hall at Printworks and Bishops Move have all supported the charity by donating items of furniture, end of line stock and other general donations, while Bensons Beds, Furniture Village, Harveys and Oak Furniture Land are all passing DAAT leaflets to their customers who can donate the furniture or white goods...

Runners Great and Small Raise Funds for DAAT

Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) is once again delighted to be part of Exeter’s Great West Run. Following on from last year as the local Charity Partner, DAAT is proud to be the 2015 Schools’ Challenge Charity Partner.  Over 1320 pupils and their teachers will be running their final mile on 18th October, shortly after runners set off  from the centre of Exeter. Participating schools achieve their first 12.1 miles of their half marathons prior to the day over the course of the term. This is paired with fundraising for DAAT.

103 Miles for DAAT

Posted by on September 24th 2015 in Fundraising

Simon Foxley and friends are taking on an incredible challenge in aid of DAAT next month. He wanted to share his story in his own words:

"Only 30 days until Steve Cotton, Clive Bennett & Simon Foxley attempt the 103 mile Two Moors Way footpath - the oldest regional footpath in Devon - starting at Ivybridge, running across Dartmoor and mid-Devon and, crossing some of the wildest parts of Exmoor, finishing the journey at Lynmouth.  Steve is registered blind; all are registered bonkers!

They are completing this walk as 'The Extraordinary Pilgrimage of the Yarde Downers'.  A pilgrimage to raise funds for Devon Air Ambulance...

Selling databases is bad practice

Good governance and transparency are the cornerstones of running a charity which relies on public donations according to Heléna Holt, Chief Executive of Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT).

Her comments come on the back of the latest revelations about some charities selling on their supporters’ personal data to other fund-raising organisations as well as some more predatory businesses.

She said: “The people of Devon fund Devon’s two emergency helicopters and have the right to know how we raise that money and we have very strict policies on how we go about this.

“It is important for DAAT and other charitable organisations that are...

Class of 81 raises £750 for Air Ambulance

A school reunion held at Dartmouth Golf & Country Club in March has resulted in a cheque for £750 for Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT).

Over 70 former students at Kingsbridge Community College chose the year when they each pass the 50 year old mark to reunite and catch up on old memories.

Amongst the class of 1981 was Heléna Holt who grew up in Kingsbridge and is now Chief Executive of DAAT.  She said: “It was a wonderful occasion to catch up with so many old friends and it was made special for me because they decided to use the evening...

A Nightmare at Arlington

A Nightmare at Arlington - supporting Devon Air Ambulance Trust

At sun set on the 24th of October the North Devon Road Runners will be hosting what we believe to be the country’s first ever Halloween themed head torch run which will take place around the grounds of the 200 year old National Trust property Arlington Court which is about 8 miles north of Barnstaple in North Devon. We will be offering two distances; the shorter fun route is The 5k Of Fear and the longer scary route for the braver runners is The 10K of Terror. Both routes will have...

Do You Have The Will for DAAT?

Do You Have The Will for DAAT?

Wills are not trendy, fun or exciting, they are the poor relation of the legal world and are shrouded by mystery and myth. The net result of which is that over 70% of the UK population do not have one and as a consequence are leaving their affairs to chance. With that in mind I thought I would address some of these and try and put the record straight as well as explaining how mentioning Devon Air Ambulance Trust in your Will can make a huge difference to the charities work….But first those myths:

Kubota and Devon Air Ambulance Trust prepare for take off

A market leading machinery manufacturer has teamed up with Devon Air Ambulance Trust to launch ‘Working Safely, Saving Lives’ – a campaign that aims to raise £250,000 for UK air ambulance charities whilst also promoting the importance of health and safety in the workplace.

Agriculture and construction are two of the most dangerous and hazardous industries in terms of fatal accidents and serious injuries.  For agricultural or construction workers who could have a life threatening accident, the critical service and speed the air ambulance provides can be their only hope of survival.

Dave Roberts, Kubota UK’s Managing Director, said: “Devon Air Ambulance...
