The Ultimate Charity Motorcycle Ride Out

The second Sunday of July every year is when Devon Air Ambulance Trust’s (DAAT) Motorcycle Ride Out takes to the beautiful roads of Devon.

The 2015 ride out starts at Trago Mills in Stover, Newton Abbot to The Den in Teignmouth, taking you through 83 miles of beautiful Devon countryside.  At The Den there is live music, refreshments and trade stands – everyone is welcome to come along and join in the party atmosphere.

This event wouldn’t be possible however without a fantastic headline sponsor which this year is the Motorcycle Warehouse Limited of Kingsteignton, Newton Abbot. We are delighted to be working...

Featured: A Guide to Sea Swim Training

- by Pauline Barker, Founder of Devon & Cornwall Wild Swimming

The one mile swim was my first sea swimming event back in 2010. It was (and continues to be) a fantastic event and really got me hooked. Shortly after I founded Devon and Cornwall Wild Swimming with the intention of finding other like-minded swimmers, and the group is now more than 3000 strong.

I have also pushed my own swimming boundaries and have gone on to swim The English Channel 3 times as part of relay teams as well as completing a solo 21 mile 2 way swim of Lake Windermere...

Featured: Dragon Boat Racing is a Must-Do Team Challenge

- by Shaun Durham, Crisp Professional Development

We were made aware of the Dragon Boat event through our association with Devon Air Ambulance as Crisp Professional Development’s Charity of the Year. With a plethora of events, and plenty of worthy charities to support, making the choice to commit to an event needs careful consideration. In the case of the Dragon Boat event the decision was an easy one as it ticked a number of boxes, namely: it was based in Exeter with other local businesses, costs of participation were realistic, it required physical exercise and involved the whole team. The last point was crucial,...

2015 Events in Devon with Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT)

Posted by on May 7th 2015 in Events

Devon Air Ambulance Trust don’t organise many events themselves, instead they mainly support the fantastic community of fundraisers across Devon with their own events.  Assistance with these events comes in many forms, from helping with PR (including social media and providing posters), to arranging for a Devon Air Ambulance Trust volunteer representative to attend.

There are a few key events that the Charity does organise every year in Devon, and we would love your support to make them even bigger and better this year!

One such event is an annual motorcycle ride out which takes motorcyclists on a marshalled journey through...

The Lads in their Hundreds - World War 1 in letters and songs

Devon Air Ambulance Trust is honoured to have been chosen as the nominated charity of choice for this moving musical evening.

Straight from successful performances in Essex the cast are bringing ‘The Lads in their Hundreds’ on the road.  Specifically they are taking it to their home towns.  It’s a commemoration of ordinary people and the cast wanted to share it with their own families, friends and communities.  Mark  Hansford (baritone) grew up in Exeter and his family live in Topsham. In fact his mum is a volunteer in the Charity’s Topsham shop.

Mark explained “Myself and the cast share a common...

JUNK Rubbish to Gold - could you help?

We're partnering with the JUNK Rubbish to Gold which is a project launching at the School of Jewellery in Birmingham in November 2015. They are partnering with the Charity by collecting any unsalable, broken, discarded junk jewelry in any condition via all of our charity shops.

Over the course of a one week performance this jewellery will be creatively transformed into objects of desire, by former and current students and the staff at the School of Jewelry. The finished jewelry will be sold with 50% of monies received going back, proportionally by weight, to the charities that have given jewelry to...
