Last week Devon Air Ambulance picked up a prestigious award for innovation at the Association of Air Ambulances’ Awards of Excellence.  The award for in relation the creation of an MSc Pre-Hospital Critical Care/Transport and Retrieval Degree.

Heléna Holt, Chief Executive of Devon Air Ambulance said “We are delighted with the award for innovation.  The Masters degree truly does put Devon on the map as being a centre for ground breaking clinical development for Air Ambulance aircrew.  We are very proud of our development team who have worked together with Plymouth University to create the degree.”

It was announced in the Autumn Statement by the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Rt Hon Philip Hammond MP today that further grants were being made from the Libor (Bank Fines) Fund to emergency services charities.  Devon Air Ambulance are delighted to announce that £1 million has been awarded to facilitate night landing sites.

Heléna Holt, CEO of Devon Air Ambulance explains “We applied for a £1 million grant on behalf of the Devon community, to assist in funding community landing sites across the county. We were so pleased to hear this morning that we had been awarded the grant.”

On 5th November it’s the Exeter Round Table Star Wars themed Fireworks Display, which will raise money for Devon Air Ambulance and other great local causes!


However good you might be at taking regular snaps, fireworks bring together a tricky combo of light and dark… which makes it easy to end up with some blurry blobs of light rather than the fantastic spectacle you want to capture. Air Ambulance challenges Devon businesses to tame the dragons

Devon Air Ambulance (DAA) is to hold its third Dragon Boat Festival on the River Exe on Sunday 25 September and is calling on businesses across the county to enter this colourful and exciting team event.

Boats with their traditional Chinese dragon mastheads hold 16-18 kayak-style paddlers, plus a helmsman to steer and a drummer to pace the crew.  They race in heats along the spectator-friendly Exeter Quayside until two are left to compete in the final.

Fundraisers at Devon Air Ambulance (DAA) are anticipating that National Air Ambulance Week later this month will be a good time to take advantage of the country’s current obsession with baking.

BBC Casualty 30th anniversary episode

Tonight BBC One’s popular medical drama ‘Casualty’ will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a special feature length edition.  This programme will show an air ambulance crashing into the emergency department after a drone hits the tail rotor.
