The Devon Federation of Young Farmers Clubs celebrate another successful twelve months at this years’ AGM held at Padbrook Park, where the yearly fundraising total for charity was announced at over £88,000, with locally based Charity Devon Air Ambulance receiving over £17,000.

Cheese and wine evening raises over £5,000 for Devon Air Ambulance

Supporters Pauline & Kenneth Govier, raised an impressive £5,606 for Devon Air Ambulance when they organised a cheese and wine evening at their local village hall in September 2017.

The evening, which comprised of live music performed by singer Sarah Randle along with an auction of donations which were put under the hammer by auctioner Paul Heard of Heard RPS, was a great success with over 90 people in attendance.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us in this year’s Grand Summer Draw (GSD); you have helped to raise an incredible £39,000 and we are delighted to announce the winners of the 2017 Grand Summer Draw prizes:

Carol Timms of Okehampton is our 1st prize winner and is now the proud owner of a Mazda2, kindly donated by Vospers Exeter. Carol bought the winning ticket from our volunteer David Weeks.

Equine Fair supports Devon Air Ambulance

Devon Air Ambulance (DAA) which is celebrating 25 years of service is the chosen charity for the Westcountry Equine Fair 2017.

The Westcountry Equine Fair, (Westpoint, Exeter on Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd December) now in its twenty first year, hosts a wide selection of educational, competitive and entertaining demonstrations in the indoor arena including: Beverley Brightman sponsored by Horsehage (dressage rider & trainer); Alexander Bragg event rider (Sunday); Grant Bazin – The horseman; Junior Show Jumping; a native breed parade and many more.

Exeter College Raises a Record Breaking £21k for local charity Devon Air Ambulance

Students and staff at Exeter College have raised more than £21,000 for local charity Devon Air Ambulance Trust – the most ever raised for a college charity.

In total, they have raised an amazing £21,313 since September 2016, far exceeding their target of £15,000. It has been a whole college effort with a wide variety of events taking place including the annual Festival of Carols, sponsored skydives, cycle challenges and the more traditional bake sales and fairs.

Summer Celebration BBQ success for the Hermitage Inn

On Sunday 16th July 2017, The Hermitage Inn, a delightful local pub in the estuary town of Kingsbridge, held a Summer Celebration BBQ in support of Devon Air Ambulance and The Royal Voluntary Service.

With live music performed in the beautiful garden by Totnes based duo ‘The Craving’ and solo performer Crystal, and with the sun shining all afternoon the well-attended event was enjoyed by all.

The BBQ raised £69.34 for Devon Air Ambulance, bringing the Hermitage Inn’s overall fundraising to a fantastic £690.15.

Cycling Challenge; One woman’s mission to thank three charities that helped save her life

On the 18th August 2017, Eleanor Browne will be setting off from Plymouth, on a solo cycling challenge all the way to Bristol. After a near-fatal paragliding accident in 2014, this cycle challenge will highlight the excellent work of three charities that saved Eleanor’s life and helped her learn to walk again; Devon Air Ambulance (DAA), Plym Neurological Rehab Unit, and the Southmead Hospital Intensive Care Unit in Bristol.

Foresters Friendly Society partner with UK Air Ambulances as Charity of the Year

Foresters Friendly Society, the Southampton-based member-owned mutual society, have chosen to support the Association of Air Ambulances Charity (AAAC) as their Charity of the Year for the 2017/18 period. Launched on 26th June, the partnership will run until next year’s Annual General Meeting and support the UK’s Air Ambulance Charities. A number of products such as calendars, pins, ties, bugs, magnets and tea towels have been produced and will be on sale at events throughout the year. Foresters Friendly Society have had a number of successful charity partnerships in previous years.

Black Torrington Bicycle Club sponsored cycle for Devon Air Ambulance

5 members of the Black Torrington Bicycle Club completed a 92-mile cycle in support of Devon Air Ambulance (DAA).

Team members John, Mary, Steve, Polly and Ian set off from Plymouth Hoe on Saturday 1st July 2017 and reached their destination of Ilfracombe in just 11 hours. The team raised £1257.32 in sponsorship with Gift Aid still to be claimed.

The team were supported by Sally and her horsebox George, providing refreshments and repairs on route, as well as transport the bicycles to the start and from the finish.
