A New Charity Partner

Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) is proud to announce its selection as one of South West Water’s charitable partners for the next 3 years. DAAT’s selection follows a staff vote.

Caroline Creer, Fundraising Director at Devon Air Ambulance Trust, says “We are delighted that South West Water has chosen us to be a charity partner over the next few years. We can proudly say that South West Water’s grant is helping us to save lives in our community”.

South West Water’s Head of Communications Alan Hyde said “We already support the communities we serve in many different ways, from education and...

Family Photos Found

Devon Air Ambulance Trust’s Topsham Shop recently received a donation of an old tin that was more than meets the eye.

Inside were family photographs dating from the early 1900’s up to the 1970’s. One of the older photographs was taken in Exeter.

Sarah Woolfenden, the shop’s manager, said “ It seemed very sad that pictures of several generations of ancestors may be lost forever. Sometimes we get items donated that were not intended for us. If the donor signs up for Gift Aid we can trace them, but unfortunately in this case we don’t have any details”.

Runners Great and Small Raise Funds for DAAT

Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) is once again delighted to be part of Exeter’s Great West Run. Following on from last year as the local Charity Partner, DAAT is proud to be the 2015 Schools’ Challenge Charity Partner.  Over 1320 pupils and their teachers will be running their final mile on 18th October, shortly after runners set off  from the centre of Exeter. Participating schools achieve their first 12.1 miles of their half marathons prior to the day over the course of the term. This is paired with fundraising for DAAT.

103 Miles for DAAT

Posted by on September 24th 2015 in Fundraising

Simon Foxley and friends are taking on an incredible challenge in aid of DAAT next month. He wanted to share his story in his own words:

"Only 30 days until Steve Cotton, Clive Bennett & Simon Foxley attempt the 103 mile Two Moors Way footpath - the oldest regional footpath in Devon - starting at Ivybridge, running across Dartmoor and mid-Devon and, crossing some of the wildest parts of Exmoor, finishing the journey at Lynmouth.  Steve is registered blind; all are registered bonkers!

They are completing this walk as 'The Extraordinary Pilgrimage of the Yarde Downers'.  A pilgrimage to raise funds for Devon Air Ambulance...

Five days under the wing

By Emma Gill, Somerset Wildlife Trust

Over the past few weeks, I have had the pleasure of spending five days on secondment with Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) – a bit of a change from my usual role as Head of Membership Support Services at Somerset Wildlife Trust.

The purpose of my visit has been to look at what the two very different local charities have in common, and how we can share ideas to help each other raise awareness and funds for our respective causes.  A lot has been crammed into five days, with a whistle stop tour of...

Row Oar Swim: A Challenge Across the Channel

Will Rose and six friends will be taking on an exhilarating challenge all to raise funds for Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT). The team of seven will take up rowing for the first time, as they pilot a Cornish Gig across the channel from Ramsgate to Nieuwpoort, Belgium. The distance totals 50 miles; a daunting task for a group who have never rowed a boat before.

The row will commence the first week in October of this year, date dependant on the weather and tide. The idea came about when Will and teammate Rich had to abandon a game of golf...

A Reason to Celebrate

A Reason to Celebrate

Ian Brown and sister-in-law Shirley Couch have reason to celebrate following their joint birthday party, in aid of Devon Air Ambulance Trust.  His 70th and her 60th respectively, saw over £1200 raised for the local Charity at the celebration in Barnstaple.

Supporting the Charity was something they both were inspired to do, having a personal connection to the service. During October of last year, Ian’s colleague Chris was working on a lorry when it rolled and trapped him underneath. Ian was able to lift the lorry off Chris using a fork lift, but the situation called for immediate medical attention. Shortly...

Bostin' Days CD

Bostin’ Days is a Levellers tribute album featuring tracks by over 30 artists to raise money for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust. The Levellers host their annual music festival, Beautiful Days, in August at Escot Park near Exeter. In 2014, an accident occurred on the final day of the festival while some structures on the site were being dismantled. Devon Air Ambulance Trust's helicopters were dispatched to airlift the two injured people to hospital.

Members of the Beautiful Days Chat Facebook group were very grateful for the help of the service, and wanted to do something in return.

The Bostin’ Days album was conceived by...

Steve Knightley Plays Charity Gig for Devon Air Ambulance Trust

Celebrated acoustic musician, Steve Knightley, kicked off his 2015 Grow your own Gig tour at Newton St Cyres Parish Hall in aid of Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) on 15th January. Organised by Exeter Eastgate Rotary Club, the gig contributed to the Rotary’s fundraising, as they have chosen DAAT as their Charity they wish to support during their President’s year.
