Gary Ocean Busking for DAAT

Posted by on January 20th 2016 in Fundraising

Supporting Devon Air Ambulance Trust for around 3 years now, Gary Ocean is continuing his busking successes and would love to sing and dance at any of your fundraising events this year. Here is what he has to say in his own words:

When wandering around the market towns of Devon
You may hear music that sounds like Heaven
Closer inspection will have you revealing
That Gary Ocean is singing with feeling

His repertoire is varied and fun
And includes a tune for everyone
The songs he sings bring joy to all
Throughout the winter, summer and Fall

He busks and dances with...

Vert YesEvil in Paignton are proud to hold their Charity Raffle with 50% proceeds to Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT).  As a family-run business, Adrian & Jonathan Livesey not only have a passion for anything on two wheels but for giving back to the community as well.

Adrian Livesey says, “ We are pleased to support  Devon Air Ambulance Trust. It is reassuring to know that Devon’s Air Ambulances are able to respond quickly to remote parts of the county, where keen mountain bike riders like myself ride. We want to contribute to the vital service they provide”.

This year, Vert YesEvil’s...

Will writing services

Posted by on December 29th 2015 in General charity, General discussion

We have recently received calls from members of the public and supporters about a team of ‘Air Ambulance’ canvassers operating in the Devon area. These canvassers are offering a will writing service in exchange for a charitable donation.  Some callers were under the impression that they had made a donation to Devon Air Ambulance. We would like to take this opportunity to clarify that these canvassers do not represent Devon Air Ambulance Trust nor will any charitable donation be received by us.

Devon Air Ambulance Trust is proud to be a member of the Fundraising Standards Board meaning we have made...

Retired pilot Rob Mackie takes on new role

What do I do now?
When I retired from operational flying for the Devon Air Ambulance in September 2015, I did wonder initially what I was going to do next!

However, DAAT had been awarded their own Air Operators Certificate (AOC) in 2014 and one of my roles at that time was Safety Manager. This was a job I loved, having lots of interest in flight safety, and that seemed the ideal role for me to continue in. As I have a lot of experience in that field it also meant I was able to share that experience with colleagues and...

Alcoa Howmet Celebrate 12 Years of Support

Posted by on December 14th 2015 in Fundraising

When Alcoa Howmet began supporting Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) back in 2003, the company probably wouldn’t have expected that 12 years later they would be celebrating raising around £41,000 for the Charity.

Alcoa Howmet casting operations, based in Sowton, Exeter, are one of the world’s leading producers of complex investment-cast turbine airfoils. Their support of DAAT began with collection boxes in the canteen, which still remain today.  Alcoa Howmet then diversified their contributions taking part in DAAT’s own in-house lottery through their payroll, granting ACTION grants, Alcoans in Motion Grants from Alcoa Foundation, along with Union donations as well.

Interview with Ambrose Bear

Ambrose is one of our much-loved mascots. Daat's very own paramedic bear sat down with the best bear-growl translator to share with us what he got up to in his fun-filled summer…

What did you get up to this summer Ambrose?

This summer was a busy one! I attended agricultural shows, other summer events, and even played crazy golf at Ladram Bay. I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t win, but I still had tons of fun!

What were some of the highlights?

I have to admit… I love to dance, so any opportunity to boogie on stage is the best! This year, I...

Exeter Airbase Visit Testimonials

On rare occasions we are able to get some of our patients, outstanding fundraisers and volunteers together to visit our airbases and learn more about the service they have needed to use, or are supporting in some way. Due to patient confidentiality, we don't know who we airlift, so when our patients get in touch, we are fortunately able to offer them a visit to see the helicopter and meet the crew under far more controlled conditions.

Here are just a couple of examples of the experiences our patients and supporters had at a recent visit to our Exeter Airbase:

“It was...
