Ebay volunteers needed

As part of ambitions plans to enhance retail derived income, Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) is looking for new volunteers to help with its growing eBay operation.

The Charity aims to open two new shops a year for the next five years and increase the contribution retailing and merchandising makes to its helicopters’ operational costs to 20% by 2017.

Air Ambulance Lottery membership soars to 29000

The in house Lottery run by Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) to support its fundraising objectives has welcomed its 29,000th member.

Now in its 13th year, the DAAT Lottery contributed over £850,000 in 2013, helping the Charity towards the £4.5m needed to keep its two emergency helicopters operational.

Owlacombe Farm in Bloom

A riot of colour awaits visitors to Owlacombe Farm near Winkleigh in May as Rob and  Ros Pickard open their beautiful garden to the public in support of Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

The magnificent and much loved three acre garden features rhododendrons, azaleas, ponds and even a bluebell wood.  Visitors can enjoy a traditional Devon cream tea after a stroll round the grounds too.

Whitchurch Cubs organise Village Charity Fair

‘Do Your Best’ is the motto of the Cub Scouts movement and rarely has it been put to such a good test than when a Devon Cub Scouts pack took on the organisation of a village charity fair.

Thirteen girls and boys aged from 8-10½ from the 1st Whitchurch Cub Scouts have organised the entire event as part of their Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) Cub Scouts badge including putting together a bric-a-brac table, cake stall, silent auction and a variety of other stands in the local village hall at Whitchurch near Tavistock.

VAT on Fuel exemption for Air Ambulances

Heléna Holt Chief Executive of Devon Air Ambulance Trust said "We're delighted to hear that the Air Ambulance community has been supported through the budget today with regard to VAT on fuel."

"As we own both of our aircraft, via our trading company, we are fortunate enough to be able to claim our VAT back in any event. But we are obviously pleased for our other Air Ambulance charity colleagues."

The Ruby Country Market brings together growers, producers, traders and artisans from all over the West Country.  It was established in 2012 as a showcase for local businesses and has quickly become one of the largest traditional markets in the South West.  It is held three times a year, always on a Saturday from 9am-2pm, on a purpose-built site in the market town of Hatherleigh, Devon.  A donation from all parking fees will be made to Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT).

We are now fully independent

This week Devon’s Air Ambulances are celebrating becoming truly independent and self-sufficient.

The Charity, through its operating arm Devon Air Ambulance Trading Company Limited, has been awarded their own Air Operators Certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), something the Charity have previously relied on other agencies to hold and operate on their behalf.

Lend Lease supports Devon Air Ambulance Trust

Devon Air Ambulance Trust's Fundraising Director Caroline Creer made a special visit to Lend Lease's London offices last week to collect a cheque for £10,000, raised at the Guvnors Club Christmas Charity Ball. The Guvnors Club is an internal club in Lend Lease which has been going for 84 years and organises various events for its members and raises money for charity..

Devons Air Ambulance tends to a patient in Somerset flood area

Last week our crew were called to the aid of an elderly male with a medical emergency in Somerset. Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance were already deployed helping a patient elsewhere. The South Western Ambulance Service Foundation Trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and a water rescue team from the Fire Service were already on scene.

HSBC Teignmouth support Charity after staff member is airlifted

The Teignmouth branch of HSBC is proud to announce that Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) is their chosen charity of the year, for the second year in a row.  Whilst all staff recognise that Devon's Air Ambulances are crucial for the county, one particular lady has an even greater reason to show her support.

Emma Oxley, who has worked at the Teignmouth branch of HSBC for 28 years, is a keen horse rider and has ridden the hills and dales of Devon for many years.  Things didn’t quite go to plan, however, on 21st June 2012.
