Shakespeare's Death: The 400 Year Anniversary

Posted by on April 21st 2016 in Fundraising, General charity

Charity Shops

In April 1616, at the age of 52, William Shakespeare died. While the exact date is not completely certain, it is often recorded traditionally as April 23rd, the date which now marks the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.

To mark the occasion, why not visit one of Devon Air Ambulance’s charity shops and see if you can unearth a Shakespearean classic? Alternatively, if you’ve got an old book (or even a DVD) lying around, you can always pass on some words of wisdom by donating it to your local shop. Shakespeare might be dead, but his words live on!

Shakespeare’s life and...

Caroline Ryan has been dropping off donations to Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT)’s Topsham shop since 2009, and little did she know what a difference she would be making by having the occasional clear out.

To date, Caroline’s donated items have raised £890.50 and with the Gift Aid claimed, well over £1000 for the Charity.

Caroline says, “I have a clear out every now and then. I recently had a declutter of the house and was pleased to know that items I no longer had use for could find a good home elsewhere by donating. It also makes it easier to pass...

Keeping Operations Organised

Catherine Moss-Crump (centre) is our Executive Assistant to our Operations Director and helps to keep our growing Ops team organised. We sat down to chat more about her role:

How did you come to work for DAAT?

In March 2015 I saw the Trust were advertising for the position of Executive Assistant to the Operations Director. The role appealed to my organised nature, my friends regularly tease me that I have lists for my lists, so I thought the position would be a good fit. At the time I was working as a Health Researcher and I felt it was time for a...

Benchball Choose Charity of the Year

Posted by on February 3rd 2016 in Charity of the year, Fundraising

The University of Exeter Benchball Society are proud to announce Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) as their chosen Charity for the current academic year.  Following taking part in Exeter’s Rock Solid Race and volunteering for the Trust at Run or Dye’s Exeter event in 2015, the society decided to not only continue, but to increase their support of the Trust this year.

The Society’s personal connection to DAAT provides the reasoning for their support. President Jodie Hoskin was in need of one of Devon’s Air Ambulances back in 2011, when she was airlifted from Dartmoor. Jodie’s airlift coupled with witnessing the...

Tozers Solicitors Raise £13,500 through Diverse Support

Following two years of tremendous support, Tozers Solicitors LLP have reason to celebrate, raising £13,500 for Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT).

The partners at Tozers decided to nominate DAAT as their chosen charity back in 2014, not least because one of them had been previously airlifted as a result of an equestrian accident. Having a first-hand experience of the vital service the Charity provides, the Solicitors began their varied support.

The year was full of fundraising from a bake-off to an indoor cycling challenge, taking part in DAAT’s Motorcycle Ride Out and the Royal Marines Commando Challenge (an event shared by DAAT...
