In 2017 Devon Air Ambulance will be celebrating 25 years of service to the county, this has only been made possible by the fantastic support DAA receives from the people, businesses and communities of Devon. It costs £5.5million every year to keep Devon’s Air Ambulances flying and they are extremely proud to be independent of Government and National Lottery Funding; this safeguards the service for the long-term and ensures they can deliver what the people of Devon tell them they want from their Air Ambulance.
DAA owns two Eurocopter EC135 helicopters which operate seven days a week and respond to approximately 1,400 incidents every year; in November 2016 DAA extended their service to operate until midnight, meaning they can help even more people in Devon.
In 2016 Exmouth Town Concert Band supported the Devon Freewheelers as their inaugural charity of the year raising in excess of £800 for the volunteer medical courier service in the process. Exmouth Town Concert Band's Publicity Officer Jackson Hammond commented; "We have a long history of supporting some great causes at Exmouth Town Concert Band and the introduction of a charity of the year has really focussed our fundraising efforts. Providing support to just one charity in 2016 proved incredibly successful and we raised a fantastic amount of money for the Freewheelers. We are all looking forward to supporting the Devon Air Ambulance in 2017 as they too are such an incredibly worthy charity."
Tracy Owen, DAA Fundraising Manager, said “We are so grateful to Exmouth Town Concert Band for choosing to support Devon Air Ambulance as their chosen Charity of the Year, community support is vital to the ensure the future of our service and we look forward to working with Exmouth Town Concert Band throughout the year to support them with their fundraisers.”
Exmouth Town Concert Band raise funds for charity through programme sales at their concerts alongside retiring collections. The first event to support DAA will be the band's Spring Concert on 22nd March, tickets for which are on sale now and are half price at £2.50 until the end of January, visit their website to buy yours.
