Lynton and Lynmouth gear up for classic cars and great music in support of Devon Air Ambulance and other local charities

The Lyn Valley Classic Car Event returns this summer and is set to be the biggest and best yet, and once again will support Devon Air Ambulance. Following the success of last year’s event the organisers have grown the event for this year from a one day car show to be preceded with fantastic live music on the Saturday night.

The Lyn Valley Classic plus mini Music Fest will take place throughout the twin villages on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th June 2016. Initially designed as part of the 125th anniversary celebration of the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway and 25 years of Lyn Financial Services the event has returned for its second year after being so tremendously received by visitors and traders alike.

This year the Lyn Valley Classic will include a tour of spectacular Ferraris which will parade through the villages before parking up in the main showground in Lynmouth. Ashley Clarke of the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway stated “We are gearing up for a two day extravaganza of Classic Cars, Sports Cars and a mini Music Festival.”

The show will promote the businesses of Lynton and Lynmouth and all proceeds from the two events will be divided between four local charities: Devon Air Ambulance, Lyn Lions, Tarka Radio and North Devon Hospice. Many local businesses will be offering discounts on the day to show their support for the event.

The Lyn Valley Classic are excited to announce that tribute band I Floyd will perform at the Lynton Town Hall on Saturday 11th June, and many dining establishments, pubs and restaurants in the village are supporting the event by hosting a variety of other musical acts.

On Sunday 12th June the Lyn Valley Classic will welcome classic and sports cars as they roll into the villages. James Tucker of Lyn Financial Services added “We are expecting over 100 vehicles to show throughout the twin villages, which will create a fantastic spectacle for locals and visitors alike.”

Minehead Motor Club will bring a tour of 50 to 60 cars, which will park outside the Lynton Town Hall before forming a procession down to Lynmouth along the sea front and onto the Manor green.

Devon Air Ambulance's Fundraising Director Caroline Creer said “We attended the event last year and it was a fantastic day, we are really pleased that the event was such a brilliant success they have decided to extend the festivities and we are really pleased to be a part of it again. Community support like this is so vital to ensure the future of our Air Ambulances. We are certainly looking forward to the event and we hope to see lots of our supporters there as well as meet lots of new ones.”

There are spaces still available for more car entries; Super Cars, Classic Cars, Classic Bikes or Tractors are all welcome, to book your place please contact Hanna via email or call 01271 321444.

Tickets for I Floyd on Saturday night are on sale for £10 at The Studio Newsagents, Lynton, situated at 8 Lee Rd, EX35 6HW, or phone 01598 753382.

Entry to this event is £2.00 per adult or £5.00 per family, payable on the day, with all proceeds to be divided between the four chosen charities.
