Advanced Riding as a title is often open to misinterpretation. What makes the difference between an Advanced rider and a “standard” one, for example a rider that has just passed their Part-II DSA test and is now legally entitled to ride without “L” plates? Is it pure speed? Is it machine control under on-road and off-road conditions? Is it being able to “get your knee down” around bends? Believe it or not, it is none of these things.

The Ultimate Charity Motorcycle Ride Out

The second Sunday of July every year is when Devon Air Ambulance Trust’s (DAAT) Motorcycle Ride Out takes to the beautiful roads of Devon. 

The 2015 ride out starts at Trago Mills in Stover, Newton Abbot to The Den in Teignmouth, taking you through 83 miles of beautiful Devon countryside.  At The Den there is live music, refreshments and trade stands – everyone is welcome to come along and join in the party atmosphere.

Totnes Rotary's Longbow Canoe Festival is Back for its 5th Year

The Rotary Club of Totnes are hosting their 5th annual Longboat Canoe Festival on Sunday 12th July at Longmarsh. Partnered with Canoe Adventures and DartTotnes ARC, the Rotary are proud to offer this fantastic family event for another exciting year.

240 sponsored paddlers will take to the River Dart, as crews of 10 contest  heats for a coveted place in the final races. The one mile swim was my first sea swimming event back in 2010. It was (and continues to be) a fantastic event and really got me hooked. Shortly after I founded Devon and Cornwall Wild Swimming with the intention of finding other like-minded swimmers, and the group is now more than 3000 strong.

I have also pushed my own swimming boundaries and have gone on to swim The English Channel 3 times as part of relay teams as well as completing a solo 21 mile 2 way swim of Lake Windermere...

We were made aware of the Dragon Boat event through our association with Devon Air Ambulance as Crisp Professional Development’s Charity of the Year. With a plethora of events, and plenty of worthy charities to support, making the choice to commit to an event needs careful consideration.
