Devon Air Ambulance Trust don’t organise many events themselves, instead they mainly support the fantastic community of fundraisers across Devon with their own events. Assistance with these events comes in many forms, from helping with PR (including social media and providing posters), to arranging for a Devon Air Ambulance Trust volunteer representative to attend.
There are a few key events that the Charity does organise every year in Devon, and we would love your support to make them even bigger and better this year!
Motorcycle Ride Out, 2015
One such event is an annual motorcycle ride out which takes motorcyclists on a marshalled journey through approximately 83 miles of beautiful Devon countryside. This year’s ride out will start from Trago Mills in Newton Abbot and winds its way around to the picturesque seaside town of Teignmouth. It’s an opportunity not only to meet up with the biker community who support the charity funded Air Ambulance (and unfortunately often need the help of the service out and about), but also to be able to promote safe riding with the help of the Devon Advanced Motorcyclists.
Pre entry is just £5 and includes a t-shirt. For further information or to enter now click here. You can come along on the day and enter for £5 too but a complimentary t-shirt will not be included in the cost for sign ups on the day.
Dragon Boat Festival, 2015
A new addition to Devon Air Ambulance Trust’s annual calendar and in its second year is the Dragon Boat Festival which takes place at The Quay, Exeter on Sunday 27 September. There’s nothing like the atmosphere of two dragon headed boats being rowed at full pelt down the Exeter Ship Canal to the music of Hawaii Five-O. This is truly an enjoyable experience not only for those taking part but also for spectators.

One Mile Sea Swim, 2015
Living in Devon we are truly spoilt by being so close to the coast and this event is a great way to challenge yourself. It will help you get fit and training can be done every day without it costing you anything! Following a horseshoe shaped route (which is marshalled with safety boats and kayaks all the way around) the event raises funds equally for DAAT and the Torbay Surf Life Savers Club (TSLSC) who provide an invaluable service during the summer months on Torbay's beaches. Taking place on Sunday 13 September this event in Devon is just £20 to enter, although swimmers are asked to consider raising sponsorship money in support of the two charities. Further information on this event can be found here.
The Charity is also involved with many other organisations putting on larger events across Devon including Run or Dye on Sunday 30 May, the Dart 10k swim on 5/6 September and the Commando Challenge on 10/11 October.
Information on all the DAAT and community events in Devon can be found here.
