The traditional style Ruby Country Market offers the best of the West Country. Averaging 200 stalls, it brings together artisans, traders, and growers giving attendees a chance to browse the community’s premium wares from a vast range of local businesses, talent and charities. This is the third Festive Market to be held and as the plans come together, it is promising to be rather special.
The Ruby Country Market was established in 2012 to provide an enticing venue where the local economy could blossom. A day at the market isn’t just a unique shopping opportunity, but attractions are also a staple of this event. Market mascot Herbie and his owner Marion Wright will be dressed in matching Christmas outfits. They will be joined by Star, an Indian Runner Duck and owner Barrie, who together raised money for Children’s Hospice South West. To complete the animal attractions the organisers are pleased to announce that live reindeer will be visiting.
The best local talent will also be present, including Jess Maryn, Cameron Mills, Sarah & Daisey, the Unity Gospel Choir, The Hatherleigh Ukulele Bashers, Hatherleigh Silver Band, the Winkleigh Morris Dancers and many more, to give market visitors a delightful musical atmosphere to walk around in, promoting holiday cheer.
Caroline Creer, Director of Fundraising at Devon Air Ambulance Trust, says, “We are grateful that one of the largest traditional markets in the South West has chosen to promote the Charity in their event. The organisers understand the interdependent relationship the Charity has with the community and we thank them for their support. We encourage everyone to enjoy a day at the Market browsing the superb local crafts.” Devon Air Ambulance Trust will be present with a stand in the Food Hall where stallers will kindly be donating prizes for the annual bumper raffle in support of DAAT and the organisers also donate a percentage of the car parking proceeds to the Trust.
The Festive date of the Ruby Country Market is Saturday 6th December from 9am to 2pm and is held at Hatherleigh Market Site.
