Successful day for Dragons on the Exe - 2014

Devon Air Ambulance Trust was delighted to host their first Dragon Boat Festival on the River Exe on Saturday 27 September with 9 teams competing to be become top dragon!

Businesses/teams taking part were Alcoa, Crisp Professional Development, Francis Clark, The Old Guys, RD&E Hospital (Wonford, Exeter) and South West Highways.

Caroline Creer, Fundraising Director of Devon Air Ambulance Trust said “We would like to thank all of the teams who took part, and who raised sponsorship for the Charity.  Our staff, volunteers and aircrew also got involved and in fact our two boats were up against each other in one of the heats!”

She added “Congratulations to Crisp Professional Development’s ‘How to train your dragon’ team for coming in ahead of the rest.  Second were the South West Highways team, followed closely by the RD&E Hospital team.”

Shaun Durham of Crisp Professional Development said “What a fantastic way to support Devon Air Ambulance Trust.  It worked as a wonderful team building and team celebration exercise – our crew are still buzzing from the experience (winning helps!). As a smaller business, we were able to get partners, suppliers and friends involved.  Everyone pulled together (literally).  The atmosphere, facilities and smooth organisation were second to one. We are already in training for next year!”

Lauryn Mann of South West Highways said “‘Our team supported by SWH’s Richard Towl, Build Manager, thoroughly enjoyed the Dragon Boat Racing last weekend. The atmosphere was buzzing and there was so much anticipation between races. SWH Build was so pleased to have come second, as we had some serious competition throughout the day. We will look forward to next year’s event, where we plan to steal the crown from Crisp Professional Development! We recommend this event to any business looking to support a fantastic local charity.”

A final figure isn’t yet available as sponsorship monies are still coming in.

The 2015 event has been set for Sunday 27 September, so if you would like to register your interest why not get in touch with us?  Email fundraising@daat.org or give us a ring on 01392 466666.  It’s a great event which is good for team building or just for fun with a group of friends and many of this year’s teams are gearing up for 2015 already!

The above event is now closed, but the Dragon Boat Race is an annual event, so do be sure to check into our Events page for the latest events and activities to get involved with.

Bieber, 20, gained stardom with his debut album at age 15 but has had a string of recent legal troubles and criticism for perceived cultural insensitivity. Last year he wrote in the guestbook at the Anne Frank House museum that he hoped the Jewish teenager who died in a Nazi concentration camp "would have been a Belieber" or a fan of his if history were different.
