Rob Woods of Calor is an award winning fundraiser. His tireless charity work was recently recognised by his employer Calor Gas Ltd, when he was awarded the ‘Malcolm Beacham Memorial Charitable Award 2013’.
Rob was honoured for his charitable work over the last three years in encouraging hundreds of his co-workers to take part in the annual Commando Challenge event, raising funds for Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) and the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund (RMCTF). Rob has co-ordinated the Calor Commando Challenge team since 2011, working tirelessly to not only convince colleagues to participate, but also managing all of the pre and post-event administration, and promoting throughout Calor the excellent work that both charities undertake.
Rob, Calor Cylinder Sales Representative for the South West &Wales, said “I was honoured to be recognised for my charitable work and support of the Commando Challenge and Devon Air Ambulance Trust. It was particularly pleasing as part of my award was a £2,000 Calor donation to a charity of my choice - which of course was DAAT.”
Rob added “I chose DAAT to benefit from this donation because I believe the service they provide is integral to the community, especially to the rural, remote areas where vital seconds count in response times getting to incidents. To that end I firmly support and salute all the staff, crew and volunteers of Devon Air Ambulance Trust, and that is why they are my charity of choice.”
Caroline Creer, Fundraising Director of DAAT said “We would like to congratulate Rob on his award and also for choosing to support us once again, which is very much appreciated.”
Stephen Rennie, Calor’s Managing Director said “The Malcolm Beacham Memorial Charity Award is presented each year to a Calor member of staff who has demonstrated considerable dedication to charity fundraising. The winner also has to demonstrate key Calor values such as leadership, dedication and our ‘One Team, One Vision’ ethos, which is precisely the approach taken by Rob. In the DAAT Rob has chosen a fantastic charity to also benefit from his award - congratulations!”
