Devon Air Ambulance is set to benefit from a share of over £160,000 towards vital PPE. This is a grant which has been released by The Lions Clubs International Foundation as part of an emergency COVID-19 relief grant.

Caroline Creer, Fundraising and Communications Director of Devon Air Ambulance said:

We are so grateful to the Lions Clubs for their continued support and for this grant equating to £9,660 which enables us to pay for separation screens on board our two aircraft.

She added, “This truly does make a huge difference to our service and enable us to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our pilots, paramedics and patients through challenging times.”

Lions Clubs’ District Governor Jim Partridge-Hogbin, Lions of the South West, said:

"We know that air ambulance charities have been busier than ever during the Coronavirus pandemic. They’ve faced considerable extra, unbudgeted day-to-day costs, at the same time as lockdown has affected fund-raising. Now, thanks to an emergency COVID-19 relief grant from the Lions Clubs International Foundation in the US, we can provide immediate support for this emergency service that touches lives in all our local communities.

"Due to the current Coronavirus pandemic the charity’s events have been cancelled, normal community fundraising has ceased and their 19 charity shops have had to be closed. This means that the ongoing support of both community organisations such as the Lions Club, as well as businesses, communities and friends of Devon are needed more than ever. "

The service receives no Government or National Lottery funding; it exists for and is made possible by the people of Devon and it’s thanks to the generosity of communities, businesses and friends of Devon that this emergency service keeps responding. If you would like to support us then we welcome donations.
