When the sun's out there's every reason to be sociable, and if you need the extra reason to get your favourite people together, then the following 5 fun and easy-to-organise activities are sure to bring everybody on board in support of your local Air Ambulances.

1. Raise a teacup and some funds and host a cream tea or bake sale

Who doesn't love a zesty slice of lemon drizzle cake, a sticky slab of ginger cake, or a lavishly topped scone (cream first)? Especially in the summer accompanied by a nice cup of tea, which is nevertheless refreshing despite the heat.

If you have some top hosting skills, then why not host a cream tea or bake sale in your home, community or workplace in support of your Air Ambulances? We are happy to supply you with branded bunting, collection tins, and whatever we can to help your event go smoothly.

And if you miss putting on a summer event? No to worry, watch out for National Air Ambulance Week in September and support our Bake Off for Take off campaign.

2. Open up your garden

Do you have an outdoors space you're proud of? Open gardens are a popular event in the summer time, particularly if you can offer refreshments for your visitors in exchange for a donation.

It helps if you publicise your open garden event in good time and remind everyone in the run up to your event. You may also be able to draw passing footfall by popping up signs and directions to your lovely garden in your community.

Another idea might be to get together with neighbours who would like to open their gardens to the public too.

3. Set up a sponsored walk or cycle ride with friends

A sponsored walk or bike ride is a great opportunity to get out and about and enjoying some of Devon and the southwest's stunning scenery with friends. There are hundreds of miles of walking and cycling routes to explore, from the southwest coastal path to the Tarka Trail

You can easily get started on fundraising by using a sponsorship platform like Just Giving. Be sure to shout about your activity to everyone you know with regular social media updates!

4. Do a hot weather-themed Dress Down Day at work

Not all activities need to take place in your leisure time. Businesses are often enthusiastic about supporting a charity that serves their community too and a dress-down day is an easy way to lend support and create a more informal and fun atmosphere at work.

While the weather's hot, why not don the Hawaiian shirts, or create a Caribbean-themed activity day? Ask your business about making us their Charity of the Year.

5. Rustle up a raffle and raise a few quid

Sometimes all you need to do to have a bit of fundraising fun in your community or workplace is to collect a handful of donated prizes and a raffle ticket booklet.

This tried and tested, fuss-free fundraiser is very portable and doesn't require a great deal of organisation. People are usually quite happy to part with some coins for the chance of winning a prize, or simply to support the charity.

We are always delighted by the creativity and energy of our supporters, however they choose to fundraise for us. If you're still short of ideas and would like to become involved in an activity in support of Devon's emergency aircraft, then here are a few more things you can do:
