Technical specifications

Our aircraft has been specifically modified for Air Ambulance work, so has:-

  • Left/right hand stretcher rails
  • One stretcher, with the facility to carry two
  • Incubator capacity
  • Patient loading through two rear clamshell doors and two side sliding doors (usual method used)
  • Sealed engine and gearbox decking
  • Combination of multi-functional medical attendance seats - we have 2 seats in the front of the cockpit for the pilot and one paramedic, then as well as the stretcher 2 other seats in the cabin, being for the other paramedic, plus a spare seat for either a medical expert, such as doctor when transferring a patient, or in the case of a child being airlifted, this seat is often used so that a parent or guardian can accompany
  • Dedicated Ambulance crew/patient intercom system

Other facts:-

  • The rotor blades are 10.20 metres in length
  • The length of the helicopter from the tip of the nose to tip of the tail is 11.98 metres
  • The maximum width of the body of the helicopter (not including rotors) is 2 metres

This just shows how compact an aircraft the EC135 is, and it's this that enables it to get into the most remote and compact locations, in order to help anyone who should need it.
