Volunteers needed - could you donate the gift of time regularly or occasionally?

Added on: 25 August 2010

Have you always fancied volunteering but not known how to go about it, or even who to volunteer for?

Why not come along to the Devon Air Ambulance Trust charity shop at 90 Fore Street, Heavitree, to find out how you can make a difference, by donating the gift of time.

DAAT Portraits -6Chrissie Peel, Retail Manager (pictured left) for the charity explained ‘Not everyone is able to give to charity financially, especially in the current climate, but they may be able to donate a few hours either on a regular or occasional basis.

‘We’re holding an open day at our Heavitree shop on Tuesday 7 and Saturday 11 September from 10am to 3pm, where anyone interested can pop in and meet staff, and some of our volunteering family, to find out just how much fun and rewarding volunteering can be.’

There’s a broad range of different tasks that need doing in the shop, from front of house, to behind the scenes.  There’s something for every age and ability, so why not come along and find out more.

Volunteering is not only a great way to help a charitable organisation, but it’s also an opportunity to meet new friends, gain experience, and looks great to a potential employer on your cv.

Volunteering Manager, Philip King said ‘The charity’s volunteers form the backbone of the organisation with over 200 across the county. They play a substantial role in ensuring the funding is there to keep both helicopters airborne.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our current volunteers for their hard work and dedication, and hope to welcome more volunteers to our family in the near future.’
