Toby Oakes' Story
Added on: 26 August 2009
Toby wrote to the crew, after he needed to be airlifted, due to an accident at home, when he put his arms through a glass door.
He said.. 'Dear Johnnie and Glen and Kate
Thank you for coming to save me with morphine and giving me a ride to hospital. I had never been in a hellercopter and I was not intending to in that way!
After a four hour operation I am on the mend. Hopefully I will be fine at Christmas redy to open my presents, well that's if I get any!'
Toby's mum Rosey added..
'Thank you so much for coming to us when Toby hurt his arms on our glass front door - I have never been so pleased to see anyone! Toby was in hospital for a week and in splints for 3 weeks, but is recovering really well and remembering to do his physio! He has started going into school for a few hours a day and we are hoping he will be fully recovered before too long.'
Toby and his sister Daisy (pictured with him) have been fundraising at both of their schools in order to raise funds for the charity. Daisy also had to undergo an operation on her foot recently, as she was slightly injured when Toby had his accident, by stepping on a piece of glass!
