Pimms and party time at The Imperial Summer Ball

Added on: 11 July 2011

The Imperial BallWhen Cormac O’Keefe and his team at the Barceló Torquay Imperial Hotel nominated Devon Air Ambulance Trust as their charity of the year, they looked at the best possible way to raise funds and awareness for the Trust.  Luckily for all concerned, one of the most prestigious annual events in Torbay takes place at their hotel and, as always, guests at the Imperial Ball last December enjoyed a sequin filled, toe tapping evening with champagne, a 3-course dinner and live music from no less  than three popular local bands.

Funds raised at the pre-Christmas event totalled £6,500.00, with proceeds split between Devon Air Ambulance Trust (DAAT) and Rowcroft Hospice.  Cormac O’Keefe met Fundraising Director for DAAT, Caroline Creer, at the Trust’s Exeter Airbase at Middlemoor.  Caroline said, “We are delighted to be the chosen charity partner for the Imperial Hotel and very are grateful to Cormac and all his team.”

With last Christmas just a distant memory and next Chrismas still months away, there is now, however, another fabulous opportunity to don your posh frock and enjoy Pimms on the terrace with your friends.  Saturday 6th August is the date for this year’s Imperial Summer Ball at the Barceló Torquay Imperial Hotel, where guests can enjoy the glittering evening party overlooking the stunning panoramic views of Torbay.  Tickets are priced at just £30.00 per person and include Pimms on arrival, a 3-course supper, a disco and live music, with funds raised going to the BBC Radio Devon Air Ambulance Appeal this time.  The Appeal is aiming to reach £600,000 towards the cost of a second bespoke helicopter for the county of Devon.

Cormac O’Keefe, for the Imperial Hotel, explained “ Here at the Barceló Torquay Imperial Hotel, we love a good party.  We are also delighted to help raise funds and awareness for local charities and, with over 300 guests expected to attend the event this year, and an additional 5% of all the bar takings being donated as part of the Barceló promise, we are very optimistic that a significant sum can be raised for the BBC Radio Devon Air Ambulance Appeal.”
