Calling all bikers

Whether you are a motorcycle enthusiast with a gleaming mean machine or a new rider keen to drum up some miles on two wheels, please note the following date for your diary.
The Devon Air Ambulance Trust is hosting their 6th annual Motorbike Ride Out on Sunday 10th July 2011. There will be three registration and start points; Bridge Motorcycles in Exeter, Bardon Aggregates car park opposite George White Motorcycles in Plympton and Zukis Cafe in Winkleigh. Each ride will cover approximately 45 miles through the beautiful Devon countryside and finish at Paignton Green in Torbay.
At Paignton Green, where all riders meet at the end of the ride and families are welcome as well, there will be live music, exhibition and trade stands from supporters and a choice of catering. All riders receive a goodie bag and all bikes will be entered for judging. Trophies will be awarded to category winners in Best Custom Bike, Best Classic Bike and Best In Show.
Of the 234 road traffic collisions on Devon’s roads in the last 12 months, Devon’s Air Ambulances have attended no less than 49 incidents involving motorcycles with 32 bikers needing airlifting to a specialist hospital as a matter of urgency. The medical attention and 
care given by our Paramedics at the scene of an incident and the speed with which they can convey patients to the most appropriate hospital is paramount to their survival and recovery.
Devon Air Ambulance Trust is independent of Government and Lottery funding and raises the entire £4.5 million needed per year to keep the county’s two Air Ambulances flying through the generosity of the public, motorcycle community, businesses and friends of Devon.

supported. It’s such a good day out and the atmosphere on Paignton Green is amazing. The motorcycling community of Devon is very appreciative of the work of the Devon Air Ambulance and this is one event where they can be involved and really give something back.”
