321 - Ready Steady Go for BBC Radio Devon Air Ambulance Appeal

Added on: 3 June 2010

The 321 initiative, devised by Run in England will be officially launched on 15th June as part of the BBC Radio Devon Air Ambulance Appeal.

The initiative aims to encourage people to get fit by walking, jogging or running a 3, 2 or 1 mile or km signposted course.

The opening events take place at 3 locations in Devon:-

Exeter – Ludwell Valley Park, Wonford
Tavistock – The Meadows, Tavistock
Plymouth – Saltram Park

All events start at 6.15pm.

Entry is just £3 and can either be paid on the evening or preferably in advance here.

BBC Radio Devon's Shep and Jo have begun training for the Plymouth run which they hope to take part in - assuming the training goes well! Shep and Jo are being put through their paces by a member of the Run England team and hope to jog their way around the new course.

Caroline Creer, Fundraising Director for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust said ‘We are pleased to be working with Run in England and BBC Radio Devon with regard to the launch of the 3-2-1 walk, jog, run scheme.  This is a fantastic scheme and this event is suitable for all the family as the 3-2-1 km/mile courses are suitable for all abilities.  You can do it at your own pace either walking, jogging or running.   We’d love those taking part to pledge to raise some sponsorship as well.  If anyone would like a sponsor pack please contact Laura Board of the charity on 01392 466666 or email l.board@daat.org’

She added ‘We would like to thank Run in England and all of the organisers of each of the 3 locations, who have worked so hard to put this event together.  Please come along and pledge your support.’
These fantastic signposted routes will not only be available on the evening, they will be up for anyone and everyone to use afterwards.
